13th Annual Hunger Strike Bowl-a-thon
A big thank you goes out to each and every bowler and donor who helped make the 13th Annual Hunger Strike such a great success! Even in these tough economic times, each one of you came through to help "STRIKE" out hunger in our community and feed our hungry neighbors. Our goal was to raise $46,000 and we are on track to reach $49,000 (net) once all pledges have been fulfilled! With these funds we are able to provide 4,900 nutritious meals to our homebound neighbors through Meals on Wheels as well as 122,500 meals to at-risk children and families in need through the Central Virginia Foodbank! That is tremendous and it would not have happened without YOU!
We had a full house at each of the first shifts at Sunset so it was an exciting and lively time! Petersburg always proves to be a fun shift with our great friends in the Tri-Cities area! Our teams increased 13% from last year which was fantastic. We appreciate the bowlers who submitted matching gift forms with their companies as that has provided an additional $1,400 to help our hungry neighbors! A special thanks goes out Midas of Richmond as they were the Strike Sponsor this year! Midas agreed to donate $10 for every strike up to 500 strikes. I had originally thought 500 strikes would be a stretch but our bowlers did a wonderful job and rolled 542 strikes!! Thank you Midas of Richmond for your support to "STRIKE" out hunger!
