Welcome to the 12th Annual Hunger Strike!

Come join the fun and raise money to feed our homebound neighbors in Central Virginia who are unable to shop for or prepare their own meals.

Hunger Strike is a team bowling event which is the second-largest fundraiser for Meals on Wheels.

Organize a five person team, set your goal at $500 per team (or $250 for a five person student team) and enjoy a fun day which includes an event t-shirt, 2 games of bowling, shoes, raffles and many door prizes.

Grand Prize for the highest individual fundraiser:  Three days and two nights for two people to The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA including breakfast and dinner!  Four other prizes are available for the next highest fundraisers to Walt Disney World, Nags Head, Virginia Beach and Ocean City, MD.

Individual bowlers who raise $500 or more by October 21 will be entered to win TWO TICKETS to Zest Fest, Best of Virginia Chefs Dinner and Auction which will be held on February 21, 2009.  At this black-tie gala you will enjoy offerings from some of the finest chefs and wineries in Virginia as well as live and silent auctions and then dancing to top off the night!

Quick Facts

Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver more than 800 clients each weekday throughout the cities of Richmond, Petersburg, Colonial Heights and Hopewell and the counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent and Powhatan.

Volunteers not only deliver meals, they also provide a cheerful greeting and daily check – sometimes the only personal contact our clients receive each day.

Nutritious meals are now prepared at the new Community Kitchen with the help of hundreds of volunteers.

Meals on Wheels also provides food for pets through the Meals for Pets program.
