All volunteer interest calls should be directed to the central Meals on Wheels location at Willow Lawn at 673-5035, even if volunteer interest is for one of Meals on Wheels’ satellite locations.

Current volunteers who need to get in touch with satellite site coordinators should call the voice mail assistance line at 673-1935. Callers will be directed to the correct voice line.

Volunteer orientation is held every Wednesday at 2:00 at the Willow Lawn location. Volunteer orientation at the satellite sites is conducted separately by the site staff on an as-needed basis. For groups or businesses providing volunteer teams, Meals on Wheels staff can conduct orientation at an on-site location convenient for your group.

Volunteer Facts and Figures

More than 2,300 volunteers support Meals on Wheels regularly throughout the Richmond area. Our family of volunteers is very diverse and represents a broad cross-section of the community. Last fiscal year our volunteers delivered more than 260,000 meals, volunteered more than 50,000 hours and drove about 300,000 miles. Approximately 200 volunteers are involved daily.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, with 30 percent from local businesses and corporations, 30 percent from faith-based and civic organizations, about 25 percent retired residents and the remaining 15 percent stay-at-home parents or students.
